Procrastination meets high tide
When I moved to Jacksonville in August it was raining about as hard as you can imagine then double it. So the movers pretty much just threw the items that go in the garage wherever they could paying no attention to organization. Being the procrastinator that I am that's where they sat.
What did it look like? Go to your garage and take a look. Yep that's pretty much it. I didn't take a picture of my before when you have such a stellar example right next to you.
So it took me about 4 months to get around to it. Hey when was the last time you cleaned your garage? That's what I thought.
I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while but today things lined up for me. It was a beautiful day and the tides were high in the late morning so fishing wouldn't be good anyway. Hey a man has to have his priorities straight doesn't he?
Yesterday I did the majority of the heavy work and got a couple of boxes consolidated and moved around in a more organized manner. One thing jumped out at me immediately. I have a lot of stuff. Unbelievable. Without going through all the boxes item by item I have no idea how much of it I actually need or want but there is a lot of it.
Another thing struck me during this project. The wardrobe boxes I have a lot of this stuff in are not going to make it for another move so that means I'll have to get some additional storage items and go through all these things before I move again. That's not all together a bad thing though. Just more work that needs to be done.
This morning I went out and got a shelving unit to store some of my stuff vertically. That helped quite a bit. I think a bike rack and a kayak storage system of some sort and I think I'll be good to go until I get around to going through each of the boxes.
Here's my shelving system all loaded up.

And here's the finished project for now anyway:

See all that concrete there on the floor? Yeah well before I started it wasn't there. I think I deserve a beer.
