Hey look, I'm spontaneous!!!!
I received a call from my friend Scott down in Ft. Lauderdale yesterday in the morning. I return it when I get to the office and he asks me if I wanted to go to the FedEx Orange Bowl in Miami...that night! I know he always gets great seats and this time was no different and Taylor Hicks was playing with Gladys Night at halftime. So I take a quick look over at Southwest and lo and behold I can get a roundtrip ticket for a reasonable price. Cool!!!
So in about 5 minutes I'm going from being at my desk to buying a plane ticket down to Ft. Lauderdale to go to a big football game. I left the office and went home, threw some clothes in a bag and was off to the airport. I get down to Ft. Lauderdale by about 2PM and Scott picks me up. We meet up with Steve and Lenny at 5 and we're off to the stadium.
OK this is where it will be perfectly fair to condemn me for not taking any pictures. I brought my camera down with me but with the rain I didn't want to take it to the game with me. If I can find some pictures online I'll post them here. I know, I know, bad blogger, bad blogger!!!!
The game was between the Louisville Cardinals and the Deamon Deacons of Wake Forest. Now I can't say as I give a hoot about either team, I was there for the experience. Our seats were in the second row of the Club Level at Dolphin Stadium. Very good seats and it seemed we were smack dab in the middle of the Wake Forest fans...so what does one do when one doesn't much care anyway? You become an instant Wake Forest fan...so there the 4 of us rooting for Wake Forest.
There were 3 marching bands, one from each of the teams and a high school band. There were two dancing shows that literally had 100's of dancers in each show and the half time with Taylor and Gladys the honorary team presidents were Arnold Palmer and Muhammad Ali....put all these together with the cheerleaders and 71,000 alcohol infused fan(atics). The crowd was really great and both sides supported their teams with their numbers and vocal chords. It was a great scene and I'm glad I went.
For the record Louisville won. Oh well, my first experience as a Wake Forest fan was a loss....hmmmm...it was a great night all in all though.
OK I'm off to see if I can find some pictures for you.
