The page has turned and a new chapter begins
Jumping into this feels much like jumping into a strong current. I'm now about 2 months removed from when I moved to Jacksonville leaving my friends and home of almost 10 years behind. I have many, many great memories of my time down in South Florida but a change was needed.
Sam Cooke once sang 'A change is gonna come' and I guess my number was up again. Kinda like jury duty but more exciting I should think.
Things were getting stagnant for me in FLL over the past year and I guess a lot of that was work related. Being in commercial real estate finance and the stupidity of the South Florida real estate market it really didn't make much sense for me to stay there when the real estate was unaffordable for most businesses. My bank had opened up a bank here in Jacksonville in March this year and though I had my choice of anywhere in the state it really made the most sense for me to move here.
So at the end of August I moved to Jacksonville. I apologize to those that are reading these first few messages as I didn't take pictures of anything since I thought it all rather mundane and certainly didn't think I would start a blog about my comings and goings. I have to send a special thanks to Chris who set me up with my email and this little corner of the internet. Thanks Chris!!!
As it turns out the day my movers come to move my 36 years of collected crap into my new apartment Jacksonville is experiencing the worst rain storm in over a decade. Yup just my luck...I'm not talking about a steady rain here...no that would have been OK...this was standing under the waterfall rain...sheets of the stuff and then it got harder still. My movers were great and made the most of it. They didn't complain once and took care to move the sofa and other fabric stuff during the lulls (there were 2 all day). A bit inauspicious start but what the hell I was here and gotta make the most of it.
When I sign on again I'll summarize the last two months of settling in one or two posts. I'll have to learn to take my camera everywhere as it makes these things so much more enjoyable. BUT look forward to my kayak fishing exploits and a couple other things.
OH btw I went to a restaurant tonight and got into a conversation with some guy there and age came into the equation for what ever reason. Anyway he guessed I was 44 or 45...thanks buddy...I'm 36...I bet he's glad I'm not a woman or it would have been hell...I just laughed at it...I really don't care but man....45...OK well....

45! That's just a baby! What're you complaining about?
Welcome to the Blogosphere! I look forward to reading more posts! Hey - we're in Florida now. Over at Suwanee river. Jacksonville isn't in the cards right now, but we'll be around for the winter. Maybe sometime.

Hey Schmatz!!!
You've been on myspace for 2.5 yrs before I check it out...what a loser I am. Fantastic photos, especially the video of water plane in alaska, I liked the low engine rumble and the slight blur of the rotor blades. I lost your phone number, therefore searched out your myspace...you know you can call me too, ***-***-****. Hope all is awesome in FLA.
Hear from ya soon, hopefully.
Your bud always...Hans
